Tom Coughlin "concerned" by Victor Cruz fitness ahead of 2015 season

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin reveals that he is worried by Victor Cruz's calf injury which has held him out of practice ahead of the 2015 season.

New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin has admitted that he is concerned about the fitness of wide receiver Victor Cruz ahead of the 2015 season.

The 28-year-old sustained a devastating knee injury in the 2014 season which ruled him out for the majority of the campaign, but Cruz recovered from the problem to return for his side's training camp.

However, the wideout has now suffered a calf injury that has held him out of practice as the Giants step up their preparations for the start of the season.

"Concerned? Yeah," Coughlin told reporters. "Because obviously there were a couple of slotted opportunities [for Cruz to practise last week]. Yeah, yeah I am.

"I would like to see him get out there and be able to stay out there. As soon as that can be done, that's possible, then that's what would happen."

The Giants open their season against the Dallas Cowboys on September 13.
