New York Jets are not under any pressure to play Draft quarterback Geno Smith, according to their general manager.

The New York Jets have insisted that there is no rush to start 39th-pick Draft quarterback Geno Smith in his rookie season.

The franchise have Mark Sanchez, who is on a £5.5m salary, as their main QB and general manager John Idzik suggested that because of the numbers already at the position there is no pressure to throw their rookie straight in.

"We don't feel like there's any pressure to put him in right away," NFL.com quotes Idzik as saying. "Especially with the cast of quarterbacks we have."

Meanwhile, Smith has said that he is looking forward to his time at the Jets.
