The San Francisco 49ers are expected to talk to defensive lineman Justin Smith about re-thinking his decision to retire.
General manager Trent Baalke insisted that he is not ready to concede that the three-time All-Pro defender will not be returning next season.
"Like any player at this stage of his career, what I told him was we're not even going to talk," Baalke told reporters.
"When I left it with him, the next two or three weeks, 'Justin, go home, take care of your family, see how you feel, and at some point in the next month, three weeks to a month, I'll reach out and we'll talk.'"
Smith will also have to consider the team changes this off-season with coach Jim Harbaugh and defensive co-ordinator Vic Fangio both leaving the franchise.
