St Louis Rams to honour Deacon Jones

St Louis Rams will honour Hall of Fame defensive end Deacon Jones by wearing his number 75 on their helmets this season following his death earlier this year.

St Louis Rams are to honour Hall of Fame defensive end Deacon Jones by wearing a decal of his number 75 on their helmets throughout the 2013 season.

Jones, who died earlier this year, played for the Rams from 1961-71 when they were based in Los Angeles and was part of a defensive front known as the 'Fearsome Foursome'.

"Deacon Jones was a legend who was cherished by generations of NFL fans and players," Rams chief operating officer Kevin Demoff said in a statement.

"Our team is proud to wear his number on our helmets throughout the season to honour his meaning to this organisation."

St Louis open their regular season campaign against Arizona Cardinals.
