Robert Griffin III's knee injury could be causing more concern than the Washington Redskins have publicly revealed.

The knee injury sustained by Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is worse than has been previously announced, according to NBC Sports.

The surgeon who recently performed surgery on the double knee ligament injury Griffin sustained in the defeat to Seattle Seahawks announced that the operation was a success.

However, it has been reported that the player and the franchise are more concerned about the injury than has been let on, with NBC Sports quoting a league source.

Griffin threw 3,200 yards and ran for a further 815 in his rookie NFL season.
