Reigning Olympic champion Usain Bolt has claimed that Adam Gemili needs to be "mentally strong" if he wants to compete at this summer's Games.
Gemili clocked a time of 10.08 seconds last Saturday and the 18-year-old has confirmed that he intends to take part in the Olympic trials for Team GB.
World record holder Bolt said: "It all depends on his mental state. If he's not mentally strong then I don't think he should try for the Olympics.
"But if he's mentally strong, why not?
"You've got to know whether he can handle it because sometimes it can mess you up mentally and then it could set you back a couple of years."
Gemili has been playing for Dagenham & Redbridge since 2009.
