Katarina Johnson-Thompson to miss Gotzis Hypo-Meeting

British heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson withdraws from the Gotzis Hypo-Meeting in Austria, which is scheduled to take place at the end of May.

Coach Mike Holmes has revealed that Katarina Johnson-Thompson will not feature at the Gotzis Hypo-Meeting in Austria later this month.

Johnson-Thompson had been scheduled to go head to head with British rival Jessica Ennis-Hill, but the Liverpudlian will now sit out the event to continue to build her fitness after being restricted by a knee injury since March.

Holmes is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "Much of the preparation necessary to compete across all events has been lost.

"Some good conditioning work has been possible, but it is only recently that Katarina has returned to relatively light track work, which was sufficient to enable her to compete on Saturday.

"It is now possible to start back and progress steadily to full training to catch up and prepare for later in the summer."

Earlier this year, the 22-year-old won the European Indoor pentathlon title in Prague.
