Jessica Ennis-Hill: 'I am realistic with my expectations'

British heptathlete Jessica Ennis-Hill admits that she needs to be realistic with her expectations ahead of her return to the sport after giving birth to her first child.

Jessica Ennis-Hill has admitted that it will take her time to try to rediscover the form that helped her win Olympic gold in 2012.

Ennis-Hill hasn't competed since July 2013 after giving birth to her first child, but ahead of her appearance at the Great City Games in Manchester on May 9, the Sheffield athlete has revealed that she is being "realistic" with her expectations for the rest of the year.

The 29-year-old told BBC Sport: "Probably a lot of people are expecting me to step on the track and be exactly the same as I was in 2012.

"That's something I have to come to terms with, be realistic and know it's going to take time to build back."

Ennis-Hill is hoping that a successful comeback can earn her a spot at the World Championships in Beijing in August.
