Usain Bolt has described a report that has suggested that the 200m could be scrapped at the Olympic Games as "ridiculous".
Last week, the International Olympic Committee approved wide-ranging changes that could impact the Games, and although specific sports weren't revealed, a report in Australia has claimed that the 200m is one of five events that are at risk within track and field.
However, Bolt, who won gold in 2008 and 2012, has slammed the possibility of the discipline being removed from future Olympic Games.
The 28-year-old told Reuters: "Normally I'm not a controversial person, but I think that's just stupid. Personally, track and field is the highlight of the Olympics every edition, that's not even a question.
"So when you're going to try to take events away from the track and field event, it is just ridiculous and I don't think the IAAF should stand for that at all."
Bolt has won a total of 16 gold medals during his illustrious career.
