David Weir hungry for records

London Paralympic hero David Weir insists that he is hungry and confident again after a break from wheelchair racing.

Paralympic hero David Weir has insisted that he is still hungry for records despite taking time off after London 2012.

'The Weirwolf' won four wheelchair racing gold medals including the 5,000m, 1,500m, 800m and the marathon before taking several months off.

He is now ready to compete for honours again and is targeting new records despite having achieved his goals.

"I know there is nothing left to prove," the 34-year-old told The Independent.

"2013 wasn't about times and medals, it was about recovering from 2012, not just 2012 but the years building up to it. Mentally and physically, right now is the best I've felt since London 2012. It's nice to get that hunger and confidence back.

"There's lots of stuff still to do on my CV. I want that seventh London marathon title, I also want to win the Boston marathon this year. I want that British record for the 10k - I want all those records, I want world records too."

Weir will race at the Commonwealth Games later this year and also confirmed that he will be at the Rio Olympics in 2016.
