Lawrence Okoye moves into discus final

Great Britain's Lawrence Okoye qualifies for the final of the men's discus at his home Olympics.

Team GB's Lawrence Okoye met the qualifying criteria during the qualifying rounds of the men's discus at the London Olympics earlier today.

The 20-year-old looked to be heading out of the competition before his final throw, having failed to go beyond the 63m mark.

However, with his last attempt, he produced a distance of 65.28m, which was the fourth furthest in their entire field.

There was not such good news for Okoye's compatriots though. Both Brett Morse and Abdul Buhari failed to reach the standard required to advance through to tomorrow night's final.

Merse managed 58.18m, while Abdul threw 60.08m.
