Greg Rutherford continues gold-medal rush with British Championships triumph

Greg Rutherford adds to his impressive season by winning gold at the British Athletics Championships in Birmingham.

Olympic long-jump champion Greg Rutherford continued his winning run by snatching a gold medal at the British Athletics Championships in Birmingham on Sunday.

The 28-year-old, who is the British record holder with a personal best of 8.51 metres, led the way with a first attempt of 7.97m, but tussled with Dan Bramble, who moved into the lead after four leaps.

Eventually, a jump of 8.11m from Rutherford, who won a Diamond League meeting last month, was enough to clinch him the top spot on the podium, while Bramble secured silver with a best leap of 8.04m.

Julian Reid took bronze with a best attempt of 7.88m.
