Mo Farah: 'Victory in 5,000m final shows that London 2012 was not a fluke'

Great Britain's Mo Farah says that his latest gold medal in the men's 5,000m event at the 2016 Olympics proves that his achievements at London 2012 were not flukes.

Great Britain's Mo Farah has insisted that his latest 5,000m gold medal proves that he did not fluke his previous achievements at the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

The 33-year-old made history on Saturday night as he became only the second male Olympian to defend a 'double-double' of 5,000m and 10,000m titles.

"I can't believe it. My legs were a bit tired after the 10k - I don't know how I recovered. People were bringing me food in my hotel room," Farah told BBC Sport after his win.

"It shows I didn't just fluke it in London, to do it again is incredible. I just want to see my kids and hang this medal around their necks.

"I was surprised by the first lap, I thought it was going to be a slow race. They had a plan, they wanted to take the sting out of me but when I hit the front, I wasn't letting anyone past me."

Farah's latest gold represents his fourth Olympic title.
