England's Rajiv Ouseph is knocked out of the Badminton World Championships in Indonesia in the first round.

England number one Rajiv Ouseph has been knocked out of the Badminton World Championships in the first round in Indonesia.

On Monday, the 28-year-old, who won mixed team silver at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow last year, was beaten by Thailand's Tanonhsak Saensomboonsuk.

The match lasted 36 minutes, with the 16th seed, who failed in his campaigns at the Malaysia and Singapore Opens, losing 21-16 21-12.

In the women's singles, England's Fontaine Chapman suffered defeat to Iris Wang of the USA, while Britain's top-ranked singles player Kirsty Gilmour lost to Porntip Buranaprasertsuk of Thailand.
