Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge has revealed that the team have started talks with point guard Rajon Rondo over a contract extension.
However, due to the restrictive nature of the collective bargaining agreement, it is understood that talks will only likely develop after this season.
"We did talk to Rondo about extending him, but that's all part of the negotiation that will happen again this summer and most likely the summer after," Ainge said, ESPN reports.
Rondo returned from a near one-year absence last week after tearing his ACL, and he played in three games before sitting out the win over the Washington Wizards on Wednesday.
