Anthony Davis hoping for quick return

New Orleans Pelcans' Anthony Davis is hoping for only a short stay on the sidelines after fracturing his hand on Sunday.

Anthony Davis has admitted that he was surprised a hand injury forced him off the court in the victory over the New York Knicks on Sunday.

The New Orleans Pelcans confirmed that Davis fractured a bone in his hand but the 20-year-old is hopeful that the problem is not too serious.

"I was going up for a lob, got fouled and then hit my hand on the rim," Davis said. "I haven't found anything out yet. Most definitely I hope it's a short-term thing.

"I didn't think it would keep me out, but it did."

The Pelicans face the Chicago Bulls in their next game on Monday night.
