Carl Frampton aims for Hugo Cazares stoppage

Irish super-bantamweight Carl Frampton admits that he is aiming to become the first man to stop Mexican Hugo Cazares since 1999 when they meet in Belfast on Friday.

Irish super-bantamweight Carl Frampton has revealed that he hopes to make a "statement of intent" when he faces Mexican Hugo Cazares on Friday night.

The Belfast contest is a final eliminator to become the mandatory challenger for Leo Santa Cruz's WBC strap, and Frampton is eager to make a positive impact in order to impress broadcasters in the United States.

The 27-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "I believe that I am going to [stop Cazares] on Friday night. It's very important that I make that statement of intent. You need to look explosive and exciting.

"American television are interested now. They want to see blood and guts and I want to give them that."

Frampton is unbeaten in 17 encounters, while two-weight world champion Cazares has 40 wins from 49 fights.
