Stuart Hall retains IBF world bantamweight title after technical draw

Stuart Hall retains his IBF world bantamweight title as his fight with Martin Ward ends in a technical draw due to a cut above the challenger's right eye.

Stuart Hall retained his IBF world bantamweight title on Saturday night when his fight with Martin Ward ended in a technical draw.

The British duo accidentally clashed heads in round one and, with the challenger's right eye badly cut as a consequence, the bout was stopped early in the second.

Hall, 34, had edged the opening round on his first defence.

Earlier in the night, Frankie Gavin successfully defended his Commonwealth welterweight title by beating Sacky Shikukutu on points, despite being knocked down for the first time in his professional career.
