Carl Froch vs. George Groves sells 18,000 tickets in 11 minutes

Carl Froch's super-middleweight showdown with domestic rival George Groves on November 23 sells 18,000 tickets in just 11 minutes.

A super-middleweight showdown between British rivals Carl Froch and George Groves has sold out the 18,000-capacity Phones4u Arena Manchester just 11 minutes after tickets went on sale.

Froch and Groves squared off at a press conference to announce the domestic dust-up yesterday, with the Nottingham Native defending his WBA and IBF super-middleweight betls on November 23.

Promoters Matchroom Boxing have confirmed in a statement that the event is a complete sell-out despite tickets only going on sale yesterday morning, as British boxing prepares for another huge night in the North-West.

Groves comes into the clash as underdog but has yet to taste defeat in 19 professional contests, winning five of his last six by stoppage in a run which has helped build the Londoner's class and confidence.

Froch has declared that he is humbled by the clamour to grab ringside seats for his latest fight on home soil, which will represent an 11th successive world title bout for the 'Cobra'.

He said: "Every time I hear that tickets have sold so fast I have to pinch myself.

"To fill an arena that's not in my hometown, but still in a fantastic fighting city like Manchester, it's humbling and I'm really looking forward to coming here and being part of this massive occasion."

The pair exchanged heated words in a face-to-face meeting at yesterday's press conference, with Froch insisting that Groves had the look of a worried man.

The 'Saint' fired back in a tense exchange, insisting that he has the tools to break down Froch and become world champion.
