Matchroom Sport has confirmed that Anthony Joshua's next fight is scheduled to take place against Alexander Povetkin on September 22.
After promoter Eddie Hearn failed to agree a deal regarding a unification bout with Deontay Wilder's camp, the WBA reiterated that Joshua must face mandatory challenger Povetkin or face the prospect of losing his belt with that governing body.
Hearn and Matchroom acted by revealing that Joshua's next two outings would be staged at Wembley Stadium and it has now been confirmed that the North London venue will be the setting towards the end of September.
Joshua will put his WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO titles on the line and will hope to retain his world crowns in order to give himself the best chance of meeting WBC champion Wilder on April 13.
Povetkin has put together eight successive wins since losing the WBA regular belt to Wladimir Klitschko in October 2013, with his last success coming against David Price in March.
