David Price ready to fight Alexander Povetkin in Cardiff

British heavyweight David Price says that he is ready to face former world champion Alexander Povetkin on the undercard of Anthony Joshua versus Joseph Parker.

British heavyweight David Price has claimed that he has nothing to lose by agreeing to fight former world champion Alexander Povetkin.

Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn is keen to put the clash with Povetkin - the mandatory challenger for the WBA title - on the undercard of Anthony Joshua's unification clash with Joseph Parker in Cardiff on March 31.

Price has fought just once since his defeat to Christian Hammer at the start of last year, but the Liverpudlian has revealed that he has already agreed to face the Russian, who is yet to provide an answer regarding the potential bout.

The 34-year-old told Sky Sports News: "It's a no-brainer with a massive upside for me. Everything to gain, so I just agreed straight away. I don't think the fight is actually made, but I've agreed to take the fight and if it can happen, brilliant.

"We've told Eddie yes. Now we're just waiting on the other side, which I can't see it being a problem if he wants to fight on the show. Probably see me as an easy touch, but obviously I would have other ideas."

In December, Povetkin comfortably defeated Hammer on points in order to secure a world title shot later in 2018.
