Amir Khan confident of meeting Manny Pacquiao

Amir Khan is confident that he is the "frontrunner" to take on Manny Pacquiao next year.

Amir Khan has insisted that he is the "frontrunner" to meet Manny Pacquiao as the Filipino fighter continues to look at candidates for his final bout.

Pacquiao is expected to step away from the ring after his next fight, and reports have suggested that his representatives are interested in setting up a meeting with Khan, Timothy Bradley or Terence Crawford.

However, Khan is confident that he will come to an agreement with the 36-year-old over a bout which would likely take place in April.

"I am the frontrunner," he told BBC Sport.

"Manny Pacquiao makes a good story because we've been training partners and I've been with his coach Freddie Roach.

"There's a big chance of the fight happening, it's all about making sure my team is on point with the deal and they need to make sure they get the fight that I want."

Pacquiao is still recovering from a shoulder injury he suffered in his loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr in May.
