Kevin Mitchell: 'I'm ready for world title chance'

British lightweight Kevin Mitchell believes that he is ready to make a statement on the world stage as he prepares to face unbeaten Canadian Ghislain Maduma at Wembley.

British lightweight Kevin Mitchell believes that he is being given the chance to return to the world stage at the perfect time.

Mitchell has won four times since July to move himself into contention for a shot at the IBF title, which is held by Miguel Vasquez, and the Londoner is confident that his dedication in the gym will pay dividends against Ghislain Maduma at Wembley on Saturday night.

The 29-year-old told reporters: "I'm ready for this. I've trained hard - I've been in the gym solidly for a year now - and I think that there is no better time for me to win this and go on to win the world title against Vasquez afterwards."

Mitchell has 37 successes to his name from 39 matches, while his Canadian opponent is unbeaten in 16 bouts.
