Lamont Peterson insists that he agreed to a rematch with Amir Khan to please the fans.

Lamont Peterson has claimed that he agreed to a rematch with Amir Khan because it is what that fans wanted.

The fighters will meet for the second time in six months this May after Peterson took the IBF and WBA light-welterweight titles from the Khan in December.

Peterson's success has been shrouded in controversy, with many believing that his British opponent deserved to be crowned the winner.

However, Peterson had insisted that he is not taking on Khan again to prove himself to anyone.

"The reason I decided to take the rematch was not because of anything Team Khan said, or that I have to prove myself to anyone," Peterson told a press conference.

"We're fighting because you all thought it was a great fight, and you all thought that we should do it again. I'm all for pleasing the fans so that's why I took this fight."

Earlier today, Khan vowed that no mistakes will be made the second time around.
