Freddie Roach has insisted that he wishes Amir Khan good luck for the future after the duo split in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Khan's partnership with Roach was deemed a successful one as the Bolton boxer won eight consecutive fights. However, after losses to Lamont Peterson and Danny Garcia, the 25-year-old fighter has decided to part ways with Roach.
Roach told ESPN: "Amir told me that he knew I was busy with my other fighters and that he was going to go in a different direction.
"He said 'no hard feelings and that maybe we would get back together in the future', but he was being nice. I wished him luck. I've been fired before."
Khan has revealed that he hopes to name Roach's replacement on Saturday.
