British middleweight Matthew Macklin has returned to winning ways with a points victory over American Lamar Russ.
Macklin entered the bout on the back of a brutal defeat against Gennady Golovkin, and 'the Tipperary Tornado' was aware that he needed to win in Atlantic City to move himself back into contention in the middleweight rankings.
Russ came into the contest unbeaten in 14 fights but he was outclassed by Macklin, who won by margins of 96-94, 98-92 and 97-93 on the scorecards.
The 31-year-old, who moves to 30 wins in 35 professional encounters, could now face Irishman Andy Lee on St Patrick's Day in 2014.
