Joe Joyce guarantees bronze with points win

British super-heavyweight Joe Joyce secures at least a bronze medal after coming through his last-eight clash at the Olympic Games.

Super-heavyweight Joe Joyce has guaranteed another medal for Great Britain after winning his quarter-final clash at the Olympic Games.

Moments after seeing teammate Joshua Buatsi lose his semi-final bout in the light-heavyweight division, Joyce started slowly against Uzbekistan's Bakhodir Jalolov but he soon found his rhythm to ease to a dominant win.

After edging the opening round, Joyce hurt his opponent on several occasions during the second session and was unfortunate not to be awarded a 10-8 round.

Jalolov looked on the brink of pulling out of the contest but despite continuing until the final bell, he never posed any threat to the 30-year-old who won by scores of 30-27, 30-26 and 30-26.
