Australia captain Tim Paine insists that the Ashes series will go ahead, despite the concerns of the England camp.

Australia captain Tim Paine has suggested that the Ashes series will go ahead as planned, regardless of England's concerns over 'bubble fatigue'.

In view of Australia's strict coronavirus guidelines, England skipper Joe Root has spoken openly about the worries of having to spend the tour in a bubble environment.

Decisions remain ongoing between the relevant parties with the ECB determined to find a resolution before naming the touring squad, some potential members currently uncomfortable without being able to bring their families.

However, Paine has hinted that he will be paying little attention to what goes on behind the scenes over the coming days.

Speaking to radio station SEN Hobart, Paine said: "The Ashes are going ahead. The first Test is on December 8 - whether Joe is here or not.

"It'll be worked out above us and then they'll have a choice whether to get on that plane or not. No-one is forcing any England player to come. That's the beauty of the world we live in - you have a choice. If you don't want to come, don't come."

Cricket Australia has already produced a number of proposals for the ECB, who will continue to hold discussions with Root, the coaching staff and potential call-ups.
