Australia captain Michael Clarke has claimed that a batsman could score 300 in a one-day international in the near future.
Clarke's side broke records in their 275-run triumph over Afghanistan at the World Cup on Wednesday as David Warner struck 178 at the top of the order, and he believes that a triple century is possible.
Indian batsman Rohit Sharma's 264 is currently the highest score in the format, and Clarke believes that there are a number of players who have the potential to set a new milestone.
"Someone like Davey, or Chris Gayle or AB de Villiers - on a smaller ground they possibly could," the Australian skipper told reporters.
"In this game, at the moment who knows? We are seeing so many different shots, different deliveries, so much power.
"There is a handful of players round the world who probably could. You probably have to open the batting so you have the full 50 overs."
Three of the top 10 individual World Cup scores have come during this tournament.
