Australia have beaten Ireland by seven wickets in their opening match of the T20 World Cup this afternoon.
Ireland struggled to post a competitive total in the early stages, but a knock of 35 from Kevin O'Brien helped them to 123-7.
In reply Australian skipper Shane Watson, who claimed three Irish wickets earlier in the match, put his side in command with a string of fours.
He was eventually run out with 51 runs to his name by Trent Johnston.
David Warner and Mike Hussey soon followed their skipper back to the pavilion, leaving Cameron White (22) and George Bailey (6) at the crease when the Aussies reached the victory target of 124.
Australia now face the West Indies on Saturday, with Ireland due to take on the same opposition on Monday.
