Australia make it through to the Super Eight with a 17-run Duckworth/Lewis win over the West Indies.

Australia have progressed to the Super Eight phase of the World Twenty20 by beating the West Indies via the Duckworth/Lewis method.

The West Indies batted first, and half-centuries from Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels helped them to a score of 191-8 after their 20 overs.

Australia responded with some big hitting of their own, with Shane Watson shining in particular with 41 not out.

Rain hit as the Aussies reached 100-1, however, and the match was abandoned after just 9.1 overs.

Australia would have needed 92 runs off 65 balls to win, but the Duckworth/Lewis method used when matches are rained off gave them a 17-run victory.

The winners of Monday's match between the West Indies and Ireland will now decide who else from Group B reaches the Super Eight.
