Despite a Lahiru Thirimanne 91 and 72 runs from captain Mahela Jayawardene, Sri Lanka failed to create a commanding score with the bat, as Jackson Bird starred with the ball, taking four wickets for 41.
Jayawardene ended his innings when he was caught out by Michael Clarke off a delivery from Mitchell Starc.
