England captain Alastair Cook has admitted that their supporters have been let down after the tourists were condemned to a 5-0 Ashes whitewash in Sydney.
They were bowled out in their second innings for 166 to suffer a 281-run thrashing at the hands of Australia, who completed a clean sweep of convincing wins Down Under.
"As a side we have let the supporters down because we haven't played very well," Cook told reporters. "We are incredibly grateful for their support. We do feel as if we let them down.
"Going to sleep tonight knowing that we haven't played very well and a lot of people have come to watch us certainly hurts."
Cook has also revealed that he has been given a vote of confidence to continue as England skipper.
