Steven Finn has admitted that his omission from England's team in this Ashes series is down to him failing to fully correct the wayward bowling that initially saw him dropped.
The Middlesex paceman, a prolific wicket-taker for his country heading into last summer, has not featured for England since being axed despite victory at Trent Bridge in the first Test of Alastair Cook's side's 3-0 triumph over Australia.
With Stuart Broad doubtful through injury and England contemplating changes having already lost the urn courtesy of defeats in the opening three Tests, Finn has been tipped to earn a recall for the Boxing Day match at Melbourne.
"It's been very frustrating," Finn told reporters. "It's quite obvious that the bowling hasn't quite gone as I would have liked it to.
"I've been working as hard as I possibly can and bowling as many overs as I possibly can in practice in the nets, trying to get it right. But it hasn't happened yet.
"I feel I'm moving in the right direction and I feel I'm getting there. But it hasn't been right up to this point, and that's why I haven't played."
Finn, 24, has taken 90 Test wickets at an average of 29.40 since debuting against Bangladesh in 2010.
