Team News: No surprises in England XI

England make no alterations to their team for today's first Ashes Test against Australia in Cardiff.

As expected, England have named an unchanged team for the first Ashes Test in Cardiff this morning.

Moeen Ali has been given the spinning responsibility ahead of Adil Rashid, while Gary Ballance has kept his place at number three, despite some recent poor form.

Meanwhile, Adam Voges has retained his position in the Australia side following a positive debut in the Caribbean and Shane Watson has also been included following reports that Mitch Marsh would replace the all-rounder.

The toss has also taken place, which was won by England captain Alastair Cook, who has decided to bat first.

England: Cook, Lyth, Ballance, Bell, Root, Stokes, Buttler, Ali, Broad, Wood, Anderson

Australia: Warner, Rogers, Smith, Clarke, Voges, Watson, Haddin, Johnson, Starc, Hazlewood, Lyon
