Eoin Morgan: England 'considering changes' for Sri Lanka match

England captain Eoin Morgan admits that Gary Ballance could be dropped for the crucial World Cup match against Sri Lanka, as Alex Hales and Ravi Bopara wait in the wings.

Captain Eoin Morgan has suggested that England could make changes to their side for the crucial World Cup Pool A match against Sri Lanka on Saturday.

Gary Ballance has made only 30 runs in three innings at the tournament and his place is believed to be under threat from Alex Hales and Ravi Bopara.

Although he has backed the Yorkshire batsman to bounce back to form, Morgan has admitted that England have alternative options to contemplate for the game at Wellington.

"We'll consider those changes," he told BBC Sport "Alex and Ravi are two guys who train really hard. They are disappointed not to be playing but are eager to play."

On Ballance, Morgan added: "He's found it difficult, but he's been through difficult periods before so he will come out the other side."

England are second from bottom in the Pool A table, with two points from three games having beaten Scotland following heavy defeats to co-hosts Australia and New Zealand.
