England bowler James Anderson set for second-Test return in South Africa

England seamer James Anderson is on track to play in the second Test against South Africa in Cape Town after sitting out the first match of the series.

England are likely to welcome back James Anderson into their bowling attack for the second Test against South Africa in Cape Town.

Anderson, England's all-time leading Test wicket-taker, missed the opening match of the four-game series with a calf strain.

The tourists took no risks with the 32-year-old and he now looks ready to make his return after bowling the equivalent of six overs today with no discomfort.

Despite Anderson's absence, England sealed a comfortable 241-run win earlier today to take a 1-0 lead against the world's top-ranked Test side.

Anderson is likely to take Chris Woakes's place in the XI, while South Africa have called up Quinton de Kock and Chris Morris for the second Test, which begins on Saturday.
