England batsman Kevin Pietersen has been ruled out of June's Champions Trophy with a knee injury.

It was confirmed earlier this month that the 32-year-old would sit out May's Test series with New Zealand to allow the problem time to recover.

However, despite reports that he would return for the Champions Trophy, it has now been revealed that he will play no part in the 50-over tournament.

It is believed that Pietersen has now targeted a return some time in June, with the first Ashes Test beginning on Wednesday, July 10.
