Nottinghamshire batsman James Taylor has spoken of his pride after being called up to the England Test squad to replace out-of-sorts Ravi Bopara.
Taylor has never represented England at Test level but has said that he would relish the challenge if selected in the XI for the second Test against South Africa, which starts on Thursday.
"I hoped that I would be next in line but I never took anything for granted although I have scored consistent runs in all forms of the game to earn this chance," Sky Sports News quotes Taylor as saying.
"Playing at Headingley would be a very proud moment for me but nothing has happened yet.
"Facing South Africa's bowling attack is always going to be a tough challenge but it's something that I would relish because getting an England Test call has been my aim from the word go."
Taylor has played once for England in a one-dayer against Ireland last year.
