Former Australia bowler Shane Warne has expressed his shock at reports that new ECB director Andrew Strauss has told Kevin Pietersen that he is unlikely to play for England again.
The controversial batsman was dropped by the ECB last year following the team's disastrous Ashes defeat in Australia.
Following his dismissal, Pietersen unleashed a tirade of criticism towards some of his former teammates in an autobiography, but calls for his England return were made when the 34-year-old hit an unbeaten triple century while playing for Surrey on Monday.
Despite Pietersen's impressive form, it is believed that ex-England captain Strauss, who was installed as director of England cricket on Saturday, has no plans to reintegrate the batsman back into the side.
Warne took to Twitter to express his shock at the reports and also questioned the manner in which head coach Peter Moores was sacked by the ECB.
The Australian tweeted: "Is it true the ECB have said KP won't play for England ever again ? Seriously, heads need to roll at the ECB Moores handling horrific too !"
Strauss will hold his first press conference in his new role this morning.
