India extend lead to 109

Ajinkya Rahane records his half-century as India extend their lead to 109 in the second Test in Wellington.

India have continued to make good progress in the second Test against New Zealand to lead by 109 runs at tea on day two.

After an even first session of the day, the tourists resumed on 201-5 in Wellington with Virat Kohli (38) and Ajinkya Rahane (64*) at the crease.

The batting pair looked comfortable in a partnership of 63 until Kohli's innings came to an end when he drilled Neil Wagner straight to Hamish Rutherford at short cover.

MS Dhoni (39*) replaced the outgoing Kohli and the Indian skipper was able to play in typical fluent fashion to steady the ship for his side.

Rahane reached his half-century late in the session and was unbeaten on 52* when the umpires sent the players inside for the tea break.

India ended the second session on 301-6, with Dhoni and Rahane eager to extend their partnership, which is currently worth 73.
