India battling back, Murali Vijay reaches half-century

India are battling back after Murali Vijay gets his half-century but still trail Australia by 422 runs at the close of the second day of the third Test in Melbourne.

India and Murali Vijay are battling back while chipping away at the huge deficit left by Australia, as the visitors trail by 422 at the end of day two of the third Test.

Vijay posted a score of 55 as India sit on 108-1 after 37 overs.

Australia put up a commanding lead of 530, with skipper Steve Smith falling eight runs short of his double century.

India have lost just one wicket since their time at the crease, as Shikhar Dhawan (28) was caught after he edged it to third slip and Smith was there to take the catch.

Vijay has put up a 50 partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara, who has posted a score of 25 at the close.

India trail Australia by 422 runs with nine wickets remaining at the close of day two of their third Test in Melbourne.
