Derbyshire head coach Karl Krikken believes that South Africa all-rounder Albie Morkel will play a leading role in his side's Twenty20 campaign.
Morkel has signed a deal to play in nine of Derbyshire's 10 matches, and Krikken has insisted that signing the Proteas player could be difference between success and failure in the competition.
Krikken said: "Albie's track record with bat and ball is proven and he has played T20 cricket at the highest level all over the world.
"Our members and supporters can look forward to seeing an explosive batsman who can also bowl with good pace and control, potentially at the death.
"He will play a key role in the side and we are all looking forward to welcoming him for what looks like an exciting Twenty20 campaign."
The 32-year-old has played in 42 Twenty20 internationals, scoring 521 runs and taking 22 wickets.
