Sachin Tendulkar has announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League following Mumbai Indians' title triumph.
The Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 23 runs on Sunday to lift the trophy for the first time.
"We have to be realistic about it," Tendulkar is quoted as saying by Cricketcountry.com. "I've played six seasons with the Mumbai Indians and I have completely enjoyed it. This was the best season for Mumbai Indians. Before this 2010 was the best season.
"This is the perfect time to say thank you to my supporters and well-wishers. I cannot wait to lift the IPL trophy."
Mumbai's previous best campaign in the IPL was a second-placed finish in 2010.
