Saeed Ajmal will join Hampshire for part of the 2013 county cricket season.
The Pakistani spinner will replace Australian George Bailey as one of the county's overseas players in August and September, when Bailey is expected to be on international duty.
Hampshire manager Giles White told BBC Sport: "He is one of the best bowlers in the world in all forms of the game, he will add real quality to the squad at the business end of the season.
Ajmal added: "I am very pleased to be joining Hampshire to play in the County Championship.
"I have always enjoyed playing in England and look forward to playing my part in helping Hampshire get promoted."
The 35-year-old previously played for Worcestershire in the 2011 season.
