A fourth Pakistani cricketer has been linked to the spot-fixing scandal, a court has heard.

Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir have all been found guilty of conspiracy to cheat and conspiracy to obtain and accept corrupt payments, crimes which carry a maximum sentence of nine years in prison.

Agent Mazhar Majeed had also admitted offences relating to the fourth Test between England and Pakistan at Lord's in August 2010.

The lawyer acting for Majeed has claimed that he made such a high payment to Asif because he feared that the bowler would join a rival racket within the Pakistani team which involved an unnamed player.

"The larger amount was paid in order to ensure that that player remained, as it were, loyal to these people, the players within the dressing room, rather than to others by whom he might be tempted," Mark Milliken-Smith QC told the court.

Sentencing will take place on Thursday.
