South Africa's steady start to day one of the first Test against Pakistan was jolted by the dismissals of Graeme Smith and Alviro Petersen.
The Proteas, who reside at the top of the world's Test rankings, sit on 68-2 at lunch following an assured start by Smith, who has become the first player in history to captain 100 Tests.
The 31-year-old and his opening partner Petersen put the hosts on top in the early session until they were dismissed on 24 and 20 runs respectively in quick succession.
Petersen went first courtesy of a Junaid Khan bowl, while Smith was caught out by Sarfraz Ahmed from a Umar Gul throw, which suddenly put Pakistan in the driving seat and left South Africa slightly shaken.
Hashim Amla (7) and Jacques Kallis (15) remain unbeaten following the morning session.
