Dean Elgar and Faf du Plessis have taken their unbeaten second-wicket stand to 110 to help South Africa to 157-1 at tea on the opening day of the second Test match at Port Elizabeth.
After reaching lunch on 68-1, the pair continued to perform solidly at the crease but there appeared to be as much intent on keeping hold of their wicket as there did to progress the total at a consistent rate.

Elgar made his half-century as the hosts moved into three figures, but the second-wicket partnership had provided just 74 runs from 33 overs with 45 minutes of the second session remaining.
However, the two batsmen used that time to up the run-rate, with Elgar hitting three boundaries in quick succession to move to 85 while Du Plessis progressed to 42 before the end of the session.
