South Africa on top against Bangladesh after day one in Dhaka

Bangladesh lose five wickets after tea against South Africa to leave them on 246-8 at stumps on day one of the second Test in Dhaka.

Bangladesh have been reduced to 246-8 by South Africa at stumps on the opening day of the second Test in Dhaka.

The hosts lost five wickets during the evening session after reaching 154-3 at tea.

Mahmudullah (35) was the first Bangladeshi batsman to be dismissed when he fell victim to Dale Steyn, who had claimed his 400th Test wicket earlier in the day.

Mushfiqur Rahim (65) and Liton Das (3) were then sent back to the pavilion in quick succession by Dean Elgar and JP Duminy respectively as Bangladesh found themselves on 220-6.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mohammad Shahid put up some resistance with the bat for the home side towards the end of the day, but they lost their wickets during the final two overs for 35 and 1 when Morne Morkel and Steyn struck.
