Sri Lanka open up dominant lead against South Africa on day three

Sri Lanka establish a commanding 150-run lead against South Africa at the close of play on day three of the second Test in Colombo.

Sri Lanka have opened up a 150-run lead against South Africa at stumps on day three of the second Test in Colombo.

The Proteas started the evening session on 234-7, but they only managed to add another 48 runs to their total before being bowled out.

The Sri Lankans then managed to reach 11-0 to put them in a good position to level the two-match series.

Hashim Amla finished with an unbeaten knock of 139 for South Africa, while Dale Steyn (30) and Imran Tahir (15) put up some resistance at the bottom of the batting order.

However, two wickets for Rangana Herath and the dismissal of Morne Morkel for a golden duck by Dilruwan Perera saw the tourists trail by 139 at the end of the innings.

Upul Tharanga (6) and Kaushal Silva (5*) will resume at the crease for Sri Lanka when play continues on Sunday.
